Chrisp, Storm Pace Bobcats Through Opening Day of Big Sky Outdoor Meet

Jessica Chrisp is within 100 points of the heptathlon leader with three events to go in the event at the 2017 Big Sky Conference Championships
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Multiple Bobcats are in the conference title hunt after strong showings during the opening day of the 2017 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday, May 10, at Hornet Stadium.
Senior Jessica Chrisp was amongst the leaders in several events to propel her to fourth place in the heptathlon with 3,079 points through the first four events.
Chrisp finished first overall among Big Sky heptathletes in the high jump registering a season best by clearing 05-05.75 (1.67m). She crossed the line in the 200-meter dash third overall with a lifetime best finish of 25.16 seconds and also finished sixth in the 100 hurdles behind a time of 14.63.
She completed the first day of competition by taking 13th in the shot put (31-03.00). Chrisp is just 13 points shy of a podium appearance while trailing leader Bailey Woodbury of Idaho State by less than 100 points.
Junior Mason Storm leads the Bobcat men in the decathlon as he currently stands fifth overall with 3,525 points. He trails decathlon leader Alec Acevedo of Sacramento State by less than 300 points. Freshman Caleb Neth is in eighth with 3,460 points while sophomore Dalen Hargett is in 12th through the first five events.
Storm had MSU's top finish in an individual event on the men's side with his first-place showing in the shot put by throwing 42-08.00 (13.00m). He also had top-10 finishes in the 100, high jump and long jump.
Neth accumulated three lifetime bests in his opening appearance at the Big Sky outdoor meet. He earned a runner-up showing in the long jump with a season-best leap of 23-01.25 (7.04m) and also finished among the top five competitors in the 100 and 400.
Hargett's best showing came in the shot put as he helped MSU finish 1-2 in the event with his toss of 41-09.75 (12.74m). Hargett also completed a top 10 finish in the 100 as he crossed the line seventh in a time of 11.33.
The Bobcats conclude the decathlon and heptathlon Thursday on the campus of Sacramento State. The Big Sky meet picks back up with the multi-events beginning at 12 p.m. MDT with live results available on the Montana State track and field schedule pages.
