Chrisp, Storm Complete Solid California Invitational Debuts

Mason Storm is in third and Jessica Chrisp is currently 14th after the opening day of the California Invitational
Azusa, Calif. – Mason Storm is among the leaders in his section and Jessica Chrisp made a strong opening appearance as the Bobcats' multi-event athletes wrapped up the first day of the California Invitational Wednesday, April 12, at Cougar Stadium.
Storm sits in third place in the 'B' Division of the men's decathlon with 3,609 points. The senior earned the second-best shot put in the division with his throw of 41-10.00 (13.36m) to help him trail North Dakota's Matt Neururer for second place by just seven points.
He also had two solid marks in the remaining two field events of the day. Storm earned a lifetime best high jump of 06-01.50 (1.93m) to finish tied for fifth in the event, then completed a leap of 21-10.00 (6.65m) in the long jump for sixth place.
Storm crossed the line in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter run in 11.46 and 51.65 seconds, respectively.
Senior Jessica Chrisp sits in 14th place with 2,969 points in the 53-athlete California Invite heptathlon field after the first day of events.
Chrisp had the seventh best mark in the high jump with her leap of 05-05.25 (1.66m) and placed in the top 10 of the 200 with her time of 25.39. She earned a personal-best throw of 32-11.00 (10.03m) in the shot put and crossed the line in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.47.
Sophomore Dalen Hargett is currently 14th in the men's heptathlon standings. Hargett's top finish of the day was a fourth-place showing in the shot put with his toss of 39-09.25 (12.12m).
The Bobcats' multi-event athletes complete the decathlon and heptathlon on the campus of Azusa Pacific Thursday. Several members of the Montana State men's and women's track teams make their opening appearances in California tomorrow, with a majority competing in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State.
