Individual Event Performances Highlight First Day of MSU Multis Meet

Bobcats have top marks in four events overall to complete opening day of action inside Worthington Arena
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Several standout performances stood out for the Bobcats as members of the Montana State track and field teams completed the opening day of the MSU Multis Meet Monday, Jan. 9, inside Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
MSU hosted multi-event athletes from the University of Montana in the heptathlon and pentathlon.
Senior Jessica Chrisp opened the pentathlon by taking a team-best third in the 60-meter hurdles by crossing the line in 9.13 seconds, then jumped into the overall lead with 1,713 points after two events by clearing an event high of 05-06 in the high jump. She eventually took second overall with 3,383 points.
Sophomore Isabella Calabrese saved her best performance for last in the 800. Calabrese closed the distance between her and the leader Erika McLeod, with the MSU runner crossing the line less than .60 seconds behind the Montana first-place finisher.
Calabrese placed sixth overall in the pentathlon with 2,896 points and was followed by MSU freshman Alex Hellenberg (2,801) and sophomore Courtney Stromme (2,611).
Montana's Nicole Stroot earned a pentathlon-high 3,791 points behind first-place finishes in the 60 hurdles and long jump.
MSU senior Mason Storm leads the heptathlon through the first four events with 2,841 points. He jumped out to an early lead by taking first in the opening 60m dash (7.18). Storm also placed second in the long jump (22-11.75), third in the shot put (36-02) and fifth in the high jump (06-00.50).
Multiple Bobcats earned top-three finishes in events Monday.
Freshman Caleb Neth set the longest mark in the long jump by reaching 23-00.50. Junior Alex Lewis was MSU's next highest finisher in the event, jumping 22-00.25 for third. Freshman Dalen Hargett finished second in the shot put with a mark of 39-04, while freshman Noah Martin easily outdistanced himself from the field in the high jump by settling in at 06-08.75.
Other notable performances include Trevor Simanski's fourth-place 35-04 tally in the shot put and Hargett's fifth-place showing in the 60 (7.39).
The Bobcats conclude action at the MSU Multis Meet with the final three events of the heptathlon Tuesday. Action begins at 10 a.m. with the 60 hurdles, followed by the pole vault and 1000m run
