Cats get bounce-back after season-opening loss
That's better.
Montana State rebounded from opening-day struggles to post a 5-2 win over Seattle at Eugene, Oregon, on Saturday. The Bobcats lost to SU by the same score in the same location on Friday.
"We played much better (Saturday)," said Bobcat coach Jared Burnham. "I'm happy about the effort and the execution. We changed things up in doubles and that worked, apparently."
Montana State started well, grabbing the doubles point with wins by Rok Sitar and Alex Flink at No. 1, and Kasper Parklo and Max Petrak at No. 3, both by 6-4 scores. Sitar and Flink won at No. 2 on Friday.
After a loss at No. 5 singles by Petrak, the Bobcats jumped to the lead when Kellen Bates snagged a 6-4, 6-1 win over Trenton Nield at No. 1 and Adrian Torrico snagged a 6-3, 6-1 victory over John Sturmans at No. 3. Parklo won the clincher at No. 6, a 6-4, 7-6 win over Michael Schattler. Sitar's 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 win at No. 2 gave MSU its final margin of victory.
"Kasper played very well today," Burnham said, "and Kellend played much better. I think we can be a tough team when we get good production at the top of the lineup."
