Bobcat Golfers Open Season Against Montana Saturday

Montana State, Grizzlies set to battle at Old Works
The Montana State golf team opens its 2016-17 season Saturday and Sunday against Montana in a dual competition.
And for veteran Bobcat head coach Brittany Basye, the key word is competition.
"We have nine players this year," she said, "and they'll have to talk with their sticks. We'll use this weekend as a qualifier for our first tournament, and I know that most of the girls played a lot of rounds this summer and are ready to go. I'm excited for the competition we'll have to make the travel team."
The Cats are led by Janelle Reali, the lone senior, and junior Jaylee Tait. The remainder of the squad enter the season as freshmen or sophomores, but Basye likes the trajectory of the team's young players. "I think we have a lot of talent among the newer players. I'm excited to watch them compete, and I think the competition among the team this year should be really good."
The Bobcats and UM dual Saturday and Sunday at the Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda. Basye is excited for the event. "It's a great way to kick off the season," she said. "We're all looking forward to getting started."
