Bobcat Golfers Open Fall Season at Hobble Creek

Three veterans lead Cats into Utah for 2016-17 debut
Montana State officially opens the 2016-17 golf season Monday and Tuesday at the Hobble Creek Classic in Springville City, Utah.
While MSU's lineup sports stability, it also rings of opportunity for newcomers. Janelle Reali, the team's only senior, anchors the Bobcat lineup. The Livermore, California product has been a program stalwart throughout her time at Montana State. Junior Jaylee Tait (Littleton, Colorado) is the other returning mainstay, while sophomore Natassia Meredith moves into the starting lineup this week.
He coach Brittany Basye is pleased with what she's seen from her veterans. "We're very excited to compete again," she said. "Janelle, Jaylee and Natassja have seen this course and the weather looks great, so we're anxious to play. We have had a great first couple weeks of practice, we are playing below our average from last year, but we want to keep improving and lower the average even more."
Two newcomers to the lineup are also scheduled to play at Hobble Creek. Freshmen Kelly Hooper (Spokane) and Coral Schulz (Whitefish) both debut in the first schedule match of the season. "Kelly and Coral will be new to our lineup, and I'm excited to see them compete in a tournament situation," Basye said.
Basye said that she hopes to see her team play confidently and relaxed in the opener. "We need not to settle," she said. "We need to push ourselves to play the best we can each round, rain or shine. I am confident that this group of five will go out and compete whole-heartedly and make each shot count."
Play begins Monday with 36 holes, and finishes Tuesday.
