Bobcats Prepare for Lady Thunderbird Invite

Montana State women's golf continues its spring season at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbirds Invitational in St. George, UT on Thursday, March 10. The two day tournament hosted by Southern Utah consists of two 18 hole rounds at Sunbrook Golf Course, a 6,042 yard course. The 'Cats are paired with Utah State and Eastern Washington in the opening round. Other teams competing include: Xavier,North Dakota Srate, South Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Cal State Bakersfield, North Dakota, Creighton and Big Sky Conference members Southern Utah, Idaho State and Weber State.
"We are excited to get back to competition and on the golf course," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We have had a some good days of outdoor practice, which means we were able to get some short game in and see our ball flight. This is a good tournament for us to play, as Natassja is the only one who has not seen this course. I know these ladies can all play well here and get some confidence going in their games."
The Bobcats will tee off at 1:30 p.m. in a shot fun start, led by senior Kati Greear. Greear ended the season opener with a three day total of 239, shooting a team low of 78 on the final day. Jaylee Tait and Haylee Folkvord each finished the GCU Invite with a 79 and will play in spots two and three. These three are joined by Janelle Reali and Natassja Meredith. Lauren Hausauer will play as an individual.
"We want to play well over the two days and stick to what we do best right now with our games. Each round we learn more about our strengths and weaknesses, and build on those. This team has a ton of talent. We just need to go play and think less."
Round two will take place on Friday, March 11 with an 8:30 a.m. shot gun start.
