Bobcats Prepare for Big Sky Battle in Sacramento

Montana State women's golf will compete against a field of 14 teams, seven of which are Big Sky Conference schools, in the Sacramento State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Bobcats will compete in a 72 hole, two-day competition at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, Calif.
"This will be a good tournament to see how we match up with most of the teams from our conference, since a majority of them will be here," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We will be playing 36 holes on Monday which we haven't played since last fall, so mentally and physically that will be a challenge, but I think they are ready. They have been working hard this week on there weaknesses as well as continuing to work on their strengths. I am anxious to see if a few extra rounds of practice this week and some time with family has elevated their games and they will feel energized and excited to get back to competition."
MSU is coming off its best two rounds of the spring, shooting 308-307 over the two round tournament in St. George, Utah earlier in March. Kati Greear and Haylee Folkvord tied for twelfth, shooting matching 151's and team lows of 74. Jaylee Tait fired 78-76 to place 25th and Natassja Meredith shot a two-day score of 161.
The 'Cats will travel with Greear, Folkvord, Tait, Meredith and Janelle Realli.
"This is a important week for us and we need to stick to our plans and focus on every shot. It will be very important that they each dig deep and gain more and more confidence with each round. The Big Sky Conference Championship will be here soon and we need to use each round we play to better our games so we can fully ready for the Championship. We need to play some good golf and finish well at Sacramento."
Montana State is paired with Seattle and Cal Poly and tee off in the first five groups beginning at 7:45 Monday morning.
