Bobcats Place Fifth at Lady Thunderbird Invite

Haylee Folkvord and Katie Greear fired matching 151's over 36 holes at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational to lead the Bobcats to a fourth place finish in a field of 13 teams. Montana State shot 307 in the final round for a two day total of 615.
"We improved each day and that's what we wanted to do," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We still have things to work on to reach our goals. Haylee and Kati finished well tied for 12th. We really need to get our fourth score below 77 to be able to compete at the level we want to. I'm confident we can accomplish that over the next couple weeks. We will have a break over this spring break and come back ready to compete at Sacramento."
Folkvord shot a second round low for the team, firing a 74 at two over par. The senior totalled four birdies and 23 pars, totalling 151 after two days. Greear added a 77 to her first day score of 74, tying Folkvord and finishing 12th overall. Greear hit six birdies and 21 pars over the 36 holes of play.
Jaylee Tait earned a 25th place finish, shooting four over on the second day. Tait shot 78-76 for a 154 total. Freshman Natassja Meredith tied for 50th with a two day total of 161 (79-82). Janelle Reali shaved five strokes of her day one score, shooting an 80 in the final round to place 165.
Lauren Hausauer placed 45th, playing as an individual and shooting 160 (79-81).
Hallie Getz of South Dakota State held her lead from the first day, finishing the tournament at three under par. South Dakota State coasted to a first place team finish shooting a two day total of 578.
Montana State travels to Sacramento, Cali., to play in the Sacramento State Invitational on March 21-22.
