Bobcat Women Open Exhibition Season with Rocky Mountain

The defending Big Sky Conference regular-season champion Montana State women’s basketball team will open its 2016-17 campaign hosting Frontier Conference foe Rocky Mountain College in exhibition action Thursday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. in Worthington Arena.

Tricia Binford, who enters her 12th season at the helm of the Bobcat program, welcomes back seven veterans, including two starters that led MSU to a 21-10 overall mark and a 14-4 Big Sky Conference ledger. The Bobcats made the program's third WNIT postseason appearance, last winter.
"This will be a great test to start the season," Binford said. "Rocky Mountain is a well-coached team, has an explosive offense and a tenacious point guard.
"We'll be looking to see improvement in taking care of the ball from the Blue/Gold scrimmage," Binford added. "We'll also be looking to see how we have progressed in defending an aggressive dribble drive offense and improvement in our rebounding. This is a great opportunity to work on some rotations with our new additions. We're excited to get in uniform in front of an incredible home crowd."
Rocky Mountain dropped a 67-62 exhibition decision to MSU Billings on Tuesday night. The Yellowjackets had to overcome a five-point second half deficit to earn the win. Rocky Mountain was paced in the loss by Keisha Englehardt, who guided the Bears with 21 points. RMC out-rebounded MSU Billings owning a 36-34 advantage under the glass. Rocky Mountain finished the contest shooting 36 percent from the field and 23 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
The Bobcats will conclude its exhibition season when it hosts Colorado Christian on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
