Almost everything the Bobcats tossed at the basket in the second half seemed to bounce around the rim and fall out. Couple that with being out-rebounded and giving up 21 turnovers, Utah State was able to hold on for a 64-56 win over Montana State, Monday night in the Dee Glenn Smith Spectrum.

Montana State (0-2) shot just 25 percent from the field in the second stanza, including 12 percent from beyond the arc and 54 percent from the line.
The Bobcats, who held a five point advantage at the 8:56 mark of the third quarter, saw the lead dwindle as Utah State (2-0) rattled off a 9-2 run to take a 36-34 margin as MSU was unable to convert a field-goal over a three-minute span. The two teams were deadlocked at 45-all heading into the final stanza.
The Aggies built a ten-point lead over the first six-and-a-half-minutes of the fourth quarter as the Bobcats went one-of-seven from the field, while committing five turnovers. MSU was able to close to within 61-56 with 35-seconds left on a Margreet Barhoum triple, but would get no closer.
"Utah State was the aggressor," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "We were super flat and we were fortunate to have the lead going into at half. Taking care of the ball and winning the boards are an absolute must for us to be successful and we didn't get that done."
Montana State held a 29-25 advantage at intermission.
MSU was led by Annika Lai with 13 points, while Peyton Ferris added 12. Lai also guided the Cats under the boards with nine rebounds.
"Annika was the key for keeping us in the game," Binford said. "She played with great energy."
Utah State was paced by Rachel Brewster with 18 points.
"We will respond to this challenge," Binford added. "And, get better this next week."
The Bobcats will open their home season when it hosts Great Falls on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
