MSU hosts regional rivals for fall men's meet
Senior Harry James leads a veteran Bobcat men's tennis squad into competition at the MSU Open next weekend in Bozeman.
The Bobcats welcome Utah, Utah State, Idaho State and Montana to town for the Bobcats' fall debut. James, a former all-conference performer who owns a 23-11 record in the past two seasons, leads a revamped Bobcat roster. Four-year standouts Niklas Brandes and Javier Martin-Morillas, along with last year's wins leader Andre Napoliatano, depart. Junior Kellen Bates (Kalispell) and sophomore Dylan Harvala (Missoula) also return.
A trio of newcomers round out this year's Bobcat squad. Alexander Flink (Sweden), Mateus Ceolin (Brazil) and Charlie Edgecombe (Australia) make their Bobcat debuts this weekend.
"I'm excited to see what our new guys bring to the program," said MSU coach Jared Burnham. "They're all talented players and I want to see how they compete. I'm also hoping to see improved consistency from our returners. I expect a good senior season from Harry."
Action begins Friday at 2 pm and continues all day Saturday and Sunday. Weather permitting the event will take place on the program's outdoor courts.
