Bobcats earn league road win
The Montana State men's tennis team began its spring break odyssey across the northern shelf of western United States Saturday, beating North Dakota 6-1 in Grand Forks.
After winning the doubles point for the fourth consecutive match, the Bobcats marched through singles play to clinch the win. Each of the team's top five singles plays won in straight sets, with Javier Martin-Morillas (6-2, 6-1 at No. 2) and Niklas Brandes (6-2, 6-1 at No. 3) winning in dominant fashion. The match marked Brandes' first career match at that line.
"The guys played with great energy today," said Bobcat coach Jared Burnham. "They were ready to roll."
Sophomore Andre Napoliatano's win at No. 1 singles gave him six straight victories after opening the season with four consecutive losses. Junior Harry James and senior Javier Martin-Morillas each posted wins to raise their records to 7-3.
The Bobcats host Southern Utah on Tuesday at 12 noon in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center before playing crucial matches at Eastern Washington on Friday at 3 pm and against Idaho at Gonzaga on Saturday at 9 am.
