Bobcat Women Face Montana Tech in Exhibition Game

“Our post players have amazing chemistry,” Binford said. “Now, we need to work on the chemistry between the guards and the posts. Execution is something we’re really going to focus on in the exhibition game.”
The Montana State women's basketball team will host Montana Tech in exhibition play, Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in its final tune-up before the start of the regular-season.
Coming off its annual Blue/Gold scrimmage last Friday, Bobcat Head Coach Tricia Binford is cautiously optimistic for the 2015-16 campaign. "We're excited to get in front of a crowd and play against someone other than ourselves," said the 11th year head coach. "I thought the scrimmage highlighted our depth at the guard position as well as our experience in the post."
All three returning Bobcat post players – Jasmine Hommes (15), Alexa Dawkins (12) and Peyton Ferris (16) – scored in double figures against the MSU scout squad.

Montana State's guard play will be anchored by returning senior Lindsay Stockton, who averaged 8.7 points and 4.3 assists per game, last winter. Also returning to the Bobcat perimeter are Hannah Caudill, Delany Junkermier, Margreet Barhoum, and Michelle Seitz, along with junior college transfer Rebekah Hatchard.
Binford will also look to another transfer to solidify the Bobcat roster. Junior Riley Nordgaard, who sat out last season after transferring from Augustana College in South Dakota, tallied ten points, six rebounds and six steals in the Blue/Gold scrimmage.
"Riley brings a consistent presence to the court," Binford said. "I think we have all the pieces, it's just a matter of putting them together. We need to adjust to the different rules changes, but I think we're getting better each day."
Montana Tech has played four games heading into Wednesday night's exhibition and are 3-1 overall. The Orediggers have been paced by Rachel Farris and Martha Dembek, who are averaging 15.5 and 15.0 points per game, respectively.
Montana State will open its regular-season at Seattle University, Nov. 13 in Key Arena.
