T-Birds Soar past Bobcat Women

The Bobcats were led by Lindsay Stockton, who recorded a career-high 20 points, connecting on seven-of-15 from the field. The Spokane product also had a career-best matching nine rebounds and dished out five assists, while notching three steals.
Ashleigh Munns posted 18 points to pace four Southern Utah players in double-figures as the Thunderbirds defeated Montana State 74-69, Thursday night in Centrum Arena.
The first half was a back-and-forth contest featuring seven ties. Southern Utah (11-5, 4-2) used a Munns three-pointer and a layup by Iva Georgieva in the final 21-seconds of the half to take a 36-31 advantage into intermission.
The Thunderbirds built the lead to ten points on another Munns triple one minute into the final stanza and kept Montana State (7-10, 1-5) at bay until the Bobcats went on an 8-0 run to pull to within 68-66 with 1:13 left.
A SUU field-goal with just under a minute remaining gave the T-Birds a four point cushion, before MSU freshman Hannah Caudill hit a three-pointer to get the Bobcats to within 70-69 with 29-seconds left.
Desiree Jackson converted a pair of free throws to push the T-Bird lead back to three points with 21-ticks remaining. A Caudill 3-point attempt to even the score in the waning moments bounced off to the right and SUU hit two charity tosses to close out the game.

Montana State will travel to Northern Arizona on Saturday.
