MSU looks for strong start in Utah
Montana State opens its 2014-15 women's golf season Monday, when the Bobcats compete at the Hobble Creek Invitational in Springville, Utah.
Six of the Big Sky Conference's 11 teams tee off in the event, which begins Monday morning, and MSU coach Brittany Basye looks forward to the team's first event of the fall. "I am excited to get the team out and competing," the veteran head coach said. "We had a couple of good weeks of practice. This is a good field, and I expect the players to start strong and finish strong.'
The season-opener stands to be a test of endurance right out of the gate. "We play 36 holes on Monday and we need to ready to pace ourselves for that. It's time to bring our best game and play hard."
Basye travels with a five-woman squad to the Provo area, with the top four scores counting toward the team total in each of the three rounds. MSU's representatives this weekend are Janelle Reali (so., Livermore, Calif.), Jaylee Tait (fr., Littleton, Colo.), Kati Greear (jr., Moscow, Idaho), Haylee Folkvord (jr., Three Forks), and Lauren Hausauer (jr., Bozeman).
