MSU dominates Grizzlies in men's tennis matches
Montana State opened its fall tennis season in impressive fashion Saturday, winning 18 of 24 matches against rival Montana in Bozeman Friday and Saturday.
Three of Montana State's eight players posted perfect weekends by winning all four of their matches, and two of the are newcomers. Freshmen Eric Fought and Dylan Harvala each won two singles and two doubles matches without a defeat, as did sophomore Robbi Nicolli. Two others, Texas Tech transfer Andre Napolitano and junior Harry James, finished the weekend 3-1.
"The guys played really well," said MSU head coach Jared Burnham. "We finished 18-6 overall and I thought it was a great start to the fall season."
Returning All-Big Sky player Niklas Brandes split his singles matches, losing to Tomasz Soltyka before beating Semion Branzburg. James won both his singles matches, as did Napolitano. Kellen Bates, an Indiana transfer, finished the weekend 2-2.
