Bobcats Fall in Cedar City

MSU captures opening doubles point, but go 2-4 in singles matches.
Southern Utah, who was picked one spot ahead of the Montana State women's tennis team in the preseason Big Sky Conference coaches' poll, held on for a 4-3 win over the Bobcats, Saturday afternoon at the Thunderbird Tennis Center.
Montana State opened the match winning the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3. With the doubles matches split, it was MSU's No. 3 tandem of Wena Tsan and Molly Crum that earned the Bobcats the point with an 8-4 win over SUU's Madeline Skaras and Sarah Lundin.
Tsan and Crum also posted wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, both in straight sets. While the duo put a cap on an outstanding day, the Thunderbirds were getting things done at the top of the ladder with victories at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles – all in straight sets.
The Thunderbirds took the match as Nastia Vasileva posted a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over MSU senior Ellie Crum.
The Bobcats will travel to Utah State, Weber State and Idaho State next week.
