Bobcat Women Travel to Washington State for Saturday Tilt

Montana State is 6-4 overall after defeating MSU Billings last Monday 76-57 in Worthington Arena. The Bobcats have won four straight games, including an impressive 79-52 shellacking of Wyoming on Dec. 6
NON-CONFERENCE FINALE`:
The Montana State women's basketball team will complete its non-conference season when it travels to Washington State on Saturday, Dec. 20 in Pullman. The game is slated to tip at 2 p.m. (MST) in Beasley Coliseum. The Bobcats are on a current four-game win streak after dispatching MSU Billings 76-57 on Dec. 15. MSU opens Big Sky Conference play at North Dakota on Jan. 1.
THIS WEEK'S VITALS:

Washington State, who is receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today polls this week, is 7-2 overall. The Cougars are coming off a 59-58 win over Gonzaga in Spokane on Dec. 9.
REWINDING MSU BILLINGS:
Montana State senior Kalli Durham posted 13 points and collected a career-high 15 rebounds to guide the Bobcats to a 76-57 win over Montana State Billings, Monday night in Worthington Arena. Montana State ran its win streak to four games pulling away from the Yellowjackets at the midway point of the opening stanza with a 9-1 run as MSU's inside tandem of Jasmine Hommes and Peyton Ferris combined for seven points. MSU pushed its advantage to 17 points at intermission paced by Hommes with ten points and Durham and Ferris with eight points, apiece. Montana State took its largest lead of the game at the 9:46 mark of the final period at 59-36 following a Durham jumper. Durham registered her second career double-double since notching 17 points and ten rebounds against Southern Utah on March 4, 2013. Hommes finished the game with a team-high 16 points, while Ferris finished with 12 points coming off the bench. Montana State shot 43 percent from the field and held a 56-40 edge in rebounding
A BRONCO REUNION:
Tricia Binford, who is in her 10th season at Montana State, will face one of her basketball mentors on Saturday. Washington State's June Daugherty coached Binford (Bader) at Boise State from 1991-96. Binford was a four-year starter for Daugherty at point-guard. The duo led the Broncos to the NCAA Tournament and a national Top 20 ranking during the 1993-94 season. The twosome also captured two regular-season Big Sky titles and went 76-36 during Binford's tenure at BSU. Daugherty is in her eighth season with the Cougars and last year led WSU to an appearance in the WNIT. Prior to her stay in Pullman, Daugherty coached for 11 seasons at the University of Washington, where she guided the Huskies to a 191-139 mark, along with six NCAA Tournament and three WNIT appearances. Her 2001 Washington squad advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight and were helped by former Bozeman High School product Andrea Lalum.

The Bobcats rank among the top three in the Big Sky in field-goal percentage (2nd/.440); and assists per game (3rd/16.6) ...MSU is ranked 38th in the nation averaging 16.6 assists per game...the Bobcats are listed 54th in the country shooting 44 percent from the floor...Montana State is ranked 52nd overall in assists/turnover ratio at +1.06...the Bobcats are listed 93rd in scoring (70.9 ppg)...individually, Jasmine Hommes is ranked 33th in the nation averaging 19.5 points per game...she is also 69th in field-goal percentage at 52.7 and 122nd in blocked shots at 1.50 swats per contest...Lindsay Stockton is also nationally ranked 69th overall, dishing out 4.6 assists per game and 69th in assist/turnover ratio at +2.00...in the most current RPI, Montana State is 140th in the country ...two Big Sky teams are ranked in the top 100 - Idaho 89 and North Dakota 90.

Like her dad, NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton, Lindsay Stockton has done an outstanding job distributing and taking care of the basketball in nine games to date. Stockton is first on the team and third in the Big Sky averaging 4.6 assists per game. Her career-high eight assists are the second best recorded in the Big Sky this season. She has also posted ten straight games with a positive assist/turnover ratio.
KICKIN' IT:
Jackie Elliott has started all ten games for the Bobcats and is averaging 7.2 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game. The Billings Central grad recorded a season-high 19 points in MSU's win over Great Falls, connecting on 7-of-11 from the field. Not too shabby for the 2011 Montana High School Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year. Currently serving as President of MSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Elliott is heavily involved in community service and can be seen on TV in numerous Public Service Announcements. She is a mechanical engineering major.
BLEEDING BLUE AND GOLD:
Senior and Miles City product Kalli Durham has strong family ties to Montana State. Durham's grandfather Lin (who recently passed away), Uncle Mick and cousin Casey all played for the Bobcat men's team. The daughter of former UM-Western Athletic Director and men's basketball coach Mark Durham, she has recorded 44 career double-figure scoring games in four seasons. Durham's 119 career 3-pointers are 6th best all-time at MSU.
FATHER'S DAY:
Lindsay Stockton is the daughter of legendary NBA Hall of Famer and former Utah Jazz standout John Stockton, while Alexa Dawkins' father Dale played football on the University of Miami's 1987 National Championship team. Dawkins later went on to play wide receiver for the New York Jets from 1990-93.

Jasmine Hommes matched a career-high with 24 points at against Wyoming on Dec. 6. The Lynden Christian product has recorded six 20+ scoring games in nine outings this season. She leads the Bobcats in scoring, averaging 19.5 per game, which is good for second in the league behind Idaho's Stacey Barr at 22.0 ppg. The 2013-14 Second-Team All-Big Sky honoree started all 30 games, last year. Hommes also has strong ties to the MSU women's basketball. She is the niece of former MSU and Big Sky MVP Blythe Hommes and former MSU and All-Big Sky performer Brooke Svendsen. Hommes' aunts made a combined 130 starts for MSU.
BABY TALK:
After taking off the 2012-13 season on maternity leave, Ausha Cole returned to the Bobcat line-up last winter and averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 assists per game- starting and playing in all 30 contests. Last weekend, the Mesa, Arizona native averaged 9.0minutes per game and totaled three assists, while pulling down two rebounds. Cole's biggest fan and daughter, Kadence, celebrated her 2nd birthday on Nov. 19.
THE LILAC CITY:
The Bobcats have three players representing Spokane, Washington - The Lilac City. Lindsay Stockton, Hannah Caudill and Delany Junkermier combined for 21 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and two 3-pointers on Monday against the Yellowjackets. Junkermier, a graduate of Mead High School, has connected on 11-of-30 from beyond the 3-point arc shooting 37 percent, while Caudill is averaging 8.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in her first nine games.
