Paulina Lopez and Molly Crum each notched straight set victories, but it wasn’t enough as Idaho held on for a 5-2 decision over Montana State, Saturday in women’s tennis action.

The Vandals captured the opening doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3, while MSU's duo of Laura Middel and Ellie Crum were up 5-3, before UI won the point.
In singles play, Lopez downed Idaho's Belen Barcenilla 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4, while Molly Crum posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 over Sophie Vickers. The Bobcats went three sets at Nos. 2 and 5 singles. Middel, playing at the No. 2 spot, dropped a 12-10 decision in the tie-breaker, while Wena Tsan, at No. 5, dropped a 10-8 tie-break to Rita Bermudez.
"We played tough," said MSU senior captain Ellie Crum. "We were much improved from our match against Washington State. We'll continue to work hard and improve as we look toward our next matches."
MSU will play at Northern Arizona and Arizona State in two weeks.
