Quality experience marks 2014 MSU men's tennis team
Montana State's men's tennis team heads west Thursday, opening the 2014 season at 46th-ranked Boise State. The match begins at 6 pm.
Second-year coach Jared Burnham welcomes back starting experience at every ladder position as MSU defends its Big Sky Conference regular season championship. All-Big Sky selection Niklas Brandes, a junior, returns at the No. 1 single spot, and likely matches up with Boise State's Andy Bettles, the 54th-ranked player in the country.
"It will be good to see some high-quality competition," said MSU coach Jared Burnham. "I thought we had a good fall, but you never know until you line up and play another team. We have guys that have been through it before, and they're anxious to get going."
Other Bobcat returners include Diego Campos, Kenny Dodd, Harry James, Javier Martin Morillas, and Markus Schleuter. After Thursday's match, MSU is off until February 1.
