First-year Bobcat men's tennis coach lands Coach of Year award
Jared Burnham led Montana State to a share of the 2013 regular season Big Sky Championship during his first season leading the Bobcat men's tennis program. For his efforts, he was named the league's Coach of the Year on Friday.
Burnham's honor marked the fifth time in league history an MSU coach has landed the award, all of which occurred in the last dozen years. Mike Phillips, Burnham's immediate predecessor, was so honored in 2002 and 2004-06.
“This is a program award,” Burnham said. “No one wins a coach of the year award unless their team plays well, and our guys did a great job this year. This is a reflection on how they competed and played.”
