
Phillips Named Big Sky Athlete of the Week

Two Medals earns Deer Lodge native his third career outdoor weekly honors
The Big Sky Conference named David Phillips the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his performance at the MSU Open on April 6. He joins three other Big Sky Student-Athletes earning the weekly honors for their efforts early in the outdoor track and field season.
Phillips picked up two medals at the MSU Open, winning the hammer throw with a distance of 60.58m (198-09.00) and placing second in the discus with a throw of 48.52m (160-02.00). He currently ranks second in the league in the hammer throw and won the weight throw at the Indoor Championships in February.
This is Phillips' third outdoor Big Sky Athlete of the Week award of his career. He was most recently named the Indoor Field Athlete of the Week back on Feb. 19.
The Deer Lodge, Mont. native will join the rest of the Bobcats at the Mondo Invitational in Sacramento, Calif. on Friday and Saturday and look to build his conference ranks in the throwing events.
