Stephan Holm scores 20 in first game as a Cat

As first impressions go, Stephan Holm's was pretty good on Sunday.
Montana State's true freshman guard scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting in his Bobcat debut, an 88-63 exhibition win over Dickinson State in Bozeman. Holm also hit four of his five three-point attempts, grabbed a couple of rebounds, and ended up with a steal.
"We're going to have to rely on some new guys, and they showed some ability today," MSU coach Brad Huse said. "(Holm) is a confident player. He's at his best when guys are finding him. He's steady. He was the recipient of some good passes today."
Holm triggered the game-deciding spurt around eight minutes into the game, hitting a layup then a three-pointer to boost MSU's lead from 12-8 to 17-8. With the Bobcats leading 19-10 he made a baseline cut and dunked to give the Bobcats a 21-10 lead.
A pair of holdovers from last year also made key contributions. Forwards Calen Coleman and Flavien Davis each scored 12 points, while forward Eric Norman scored seven points with a game-high seven rebounds.
Sunday was a day of mixing and matching for the Bobcats. The three-man guard rotation of Marcus Colbert, Antonio Biglow and Michael Dison combined for 23 points, 12 assists and three steals. The Cats played 12 players, with 10 of them logging at least 15 minutes.
"We played a lot of guys tonight," Huse said. "I thought some of them had the jitters. But in stretches, they showed some firepower."
Montana State opens the 2013-14 regular season next Saturday, hosting Cal State Fullerton at 4:30 pm in Worthington Arena.
