Montana State senior guard Latisha Adams notched a career-high 16 points lifting the Bobcat women's basketball team to a 69-52 win over Northern Arizona, Saturday afternoon in Worthington Arena.

Adams, who divided her points evenly in each half, hit a 3-pointer at the 8:42 mark of the opening stanza to give Montana State (7-3, 1-1) its first lead of the game and one they would never relinquish.

“I thought from the outset we established a good tempo,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Northern Arizona hit some tough shots on a couple of possessions as the shot clock was expiring, but that was okay because our defense was strong.

“Then, Tish hit some big shots to settle us down, offensively, and we were able to get a comfortable lead at halftime,” Binford said.

Trailing 17-11 at the midway point of the first half, MSU out-scored Northern Arizona (1-10, 0-2) 28-10 the rest of the way to enter intermission with a 39-27 advantage.

In the second period, NAU never got its deficit under double-figures and the Bobcats took its largest lead at 65-46 with 3:04 remaining following a Rechel Carter free throw.

“I really liked our energy in the second half,” Binford said. “We got nice contributions from the bench and Lexi Dawkins and Lindsay Stockton played some of their best basketball of the season.”

MSU had four players in double-digit scoring, including Adams, Ashley Brumwell 13, Rachel Semansky 12, and Stockton 10. Dawkins, a freshman from Bozeman, finished with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 15 minutes of action.

For the game, the Bobcats shot 39 percent from the field and converted 11-of-13 free throws. MSU also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Lumberjacks 44-33. The Bobcats were paced by Brumwell with eight rebounds, while Semansky and Jackie Elliott each chipped in six, apiece.

Northern Arizona was paced by Amy Patton with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Bobcats will host MSU-Billings on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
