MSU wins narrow match of L-C State

Pawel Turzanski won his third straight singles match and the Bobcats topped NAIA power Lewis-Clark State 4-3 in the team's home opener Friday night.

Turzanski raised his record to 5-5 on the season with his 6-3, 6-4 win over Anders Tischer. Alberto Fuentes and Diego Campos Contreras also won singles matches for MSU, and the Bobcats swept to the doubles points by sweeping three matches. Fletcher Keyes and Turzanski won at no. one doubles, Fuentes and Campos Contreras won at no. two doubles, and Prithiv Sivasubramaniam and Markus Schleuter won at no. three.

“We played well,” said Bobcat coach Mike Phillips. “We mixed up our lineup a little and we're battling some illness, but Lewis-Clark is a very good team and we had to battle to win.”

Montana State hosts a pair of matches Sunday, battling Seattle at 9 am and MSU-Billings at 1 pm.
