Bobcats snap five-match skid with sweep of Bengals
Pawel Turzanski and Markus Schleuter each won both their weekend singles matches, leading the Montana State men's tennis team to a weekend split at Utah and Idaho State.
After dropping a 4-3 decision at Mountain West foe Utah on Friday, the Bobcats swept Idaho State 7-0 in non-conference action Saturday at Idaho Falls. MSU raised its record to 2-7 with the win.
Montana State set the tone early by winning the doubles point, then Turzanski earned a 6-1 6-3 win over Idaho State's Danel Barrenechea at no. one singles. Although ISU's Barrenechea and Gilberto Azevedo topped Turzanski and Fletcher Keyes at no. one doubles, the Bengals never threatened MSU in singles competition.
Turzanski raised his record to 4-5 in singles competition, including three wins in MSU's last four outings. Keyes and Alberto Fuentes also raised their record to 4-5 on the season.
Montana State opens the home portion of its schedule next weekend, hosting MSU-Billings (Friday at 5 pm), Lewis-Clark State (Sunday, 10 am) and Seattle (Sunday, 2 pm).
