Johnson Leads Five in Double-Digits as Bobcats Cruise to Win

Montana State sophomore Tre Johnson recorded a game-high 20 points, including 16 in the first half to guide five Bobcats in double-figure scoring and a 106-54 exhibition win over Colorado Christian, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.

Montana State sophomore Tre Johnson recorded a game-high 20 points, including 16 in the first half to guide five Bobcats in double-figure scoring and a 106-54 exhibition win over Colorado Christian, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.
“Tre gave us good energy,” said MSU head coach Brad Huse. “I thought our defense dictated the tempo and our offense fed off it.”
Johnson connected on seven-of-eight field goals in the opening stanza.
Also hitting double-digits for Montana State were Shawn Reid 17, Xavier Johnson-Blount 16, Christian Moon 15 and Michael Dison 10.
For the game, the Bobcats shot 53 percent from the field, while holding the Cougars to 31 percent.
“We got some buckets in transition from the starting gate and just kept it going,” Huse said.
The Bobcats used a 10-0 run in the middle of the first half to put the game away. The run was sparked by six points by Johnson, including a dunk.
MSU finished with a 52-29 advantage under the boards. The Bobcats were paced by point-guard Ron Singleton with a game-high eight rebounds. Mohammed Fall and Blake Brumwell added seven boards, apiece.
The Bobcats will open their regular-season schedule next Friday at Arizona State.
