MSU plays unselfishly, efficiently in easy win
Montana State shot 78% from the floor in the first half and scored the eighth-most points in school history, topping Northern New Mexico 111-61 in Bozeman on Sunday.
The Bobcats scored on 32 of their 38 possessions before the intermission, including separate stretches of nine and eight in a row, building a 68-28 halftime edge. MSU shot 63.9% from the floor for the game, dishing out 24 assists with only nine turnovers.
“We really shared the ball and shot it well in the first half,” said MSU coach Brad Huse. “I thought our guys did a good job maintaining their focus, and that isn't easy to do.”
Jourdain Allou scored 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds, leading Montana State in both categories. Six Bobcats scored in double-digits, with Jamie Stewart and Christian Moon getting 14 each and Jeff Budinich and Shawn Reid each scoring 13. Rod Singleton registered seven assists for the Bobcats, while Michael Dison had six.
Demetrio Wade scored 13 points to lead the Eagles, with Rodney Coles adding 10.
Montana State raises its record to 1-1 on the young season, while Northern New Mexico falls to 0-8. The Bobcats play again Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Utah.
