Montana State faces Utah, Weber State and Idaho State over President's Day weekend
The Montana State men's tennis team makes an important early-season swing through Utah and Idaho this weekend, facing two Big Sky opponents and a powerful non-league foe.
MSU battles Mountain West foe Utah on Saturday before facing Weber State on Sunday and Idaho State Monday. MSU enters the weekend 0-5 overall, 0-2 in conference contests, but the Bobcats continue to improve.
"This team works hard all week," said Bobcat coach Mike Phillips. "The players have a great attitude, and we know that if we compete hard good things will happen."
After a rocky start to the season, which included losses to Arizona and Portland, the Bobcats won twice in a 5-2 loss at Portland State and three times in a 4-3 near-miss against UC Davis.
"We played hard last weekend" against Portland State and UC Davis, Phillips said. "Failing to get a win was difficult, but at the same time the improvement we showed really gave us a lift."
The Bobcats play at Utah Saturday at noon, before league matches at Weber State on Sunday (10 am) and Idaho State on Monday (11 am).
