MSU doubles teams post winning weekend in Las Vegas
Pawel Turzanski and Markus Schleuter each won singles matches and three Montana State doubles teams won two matches each as MSU wrapped up its fall tennis season at the ITA Regional Championships in Las Vegas.
Turzanski, one of the team's two seniors, defeated Utah State's Nikita Ryashchenko (6-4, 7-5), while Schleuter, a freshman, topped Utah's Matt Cowley (8-6). Bobcat coach Mike Phillips was pleased with the progress his singles players showed against good competition. “We played some really outstanding competition, and the guys competed well,” he said. “It was a good tournament for us.”
Montana State fared very well in doubles competition, compiling a 6-5 overall record. The teams of Diego Camps and Schleuter, Prithiv Sivasabramaniam and Alberto Fuentes, and Fletcher Keyes and Turzanski each won a pair of doubles matches.
“Our doubles teams played some really good tennis,” Phillips said. “Overall I really like this team's attitude.”
Montana State resumes competition in January.
