Cats Set to Conclude Season at NCAA Outdoor Championships

Bobcats entered in four events in Eugene
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State track & field team wraps up the 2025-26 season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., starting on Wednesday and continuing through Saturday.
The four-day meet will feature the men on Wednesday and Friday and the women on Thursday and Saturday. Rob McManus will open competition for Montana State in the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinal at 6:38 p.m. MT on Wednesday, while Sydney Brewster (shot put), Tilde Bjerager (400m hurdles) and the 4x400m relay team of Bjerager, Peyton Garrison, Giulia Gandolfi, and Caroline Hawkes will compete on Thursday.
Live Results from the NCAA Outdoor Championships will be available here. The meet will air live on ESPN on Wednesday and ESPN2 on Thursday through Saturday. Field events can be accessed via live stream on ESPN+.
"It will be an exciting few days watching our Bobcats go up against the best of the NCAA," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "Rob will get us started on Wednesday. He obviously has so much experience. Not only is this his fourth time competing in the steeplechase at NCAA Outdoor, he has also competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championships twice and the NCAA Indoor Championships once."

The Competition: The Bobcats will face off against the nation's best in Oregon this week, with the top 12 finishers per event at the East Regionals (Lexington, Ky.) and West Regionals (Fayetteville, Ark.) qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships' 24-competitor field in each event. The top 24 decathletes and heptathletes nationally following the conference championships automatically advanced to Eugene and will also compete this weekend. The field events, multis, and 10,000-meter run will consist of one round of competition, while the running events will include a semifinal and final round. The top eight finishers in each event will receive First-Team All-America honors, those who place ninth through 16th will be named Second-Team All-Americans, and the 17th through 24th-place finishers will earn honorable mention honors.
Bobcat Competitors: Montana State is entered in four events this week, with six Bobcats expected to compete in Oregon. McManus will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the fourth-straight year, and the women's 4x400m relay team will make its second-straight appearance at Nationals. This year's team features Bjerager, Garrison, Gandolfi, and Hawkes, with Jadyn VanDyken serving as an alternate. Bjerager will also compete in the 400m hurdles in her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut, and Brewster will also compete at the outdoor national meet for the first time when she appears in the shot put on Thursday night. Among the current field for this week's meet, Bjerager ranks 15th in the 400m hurdles, McManus is 16th in the 3,000m steeplechase, Brewster comes in at 16th in the shot put, and the women's 4x400m relay team is seeded 24th.
Last Time Out: The Bobcats qualified four entries from the NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 27-30. Brewster was the first to punch her ticket with a season-best mark of 17.16 meters/56 feet, 3.75 inches to place fifth in the shot put. McManus clocked a time 8:40.57 to finish third in his heat and secure an automatic qualification to Nationals with his 15th-place finish. Bjerager shattered her own school and Big Sky record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.82 to finish sixth in Arkansas. Following a lightning delay that lasted over an hour, Bjerager, Garrison, Gandolfi, and Hawkes posted a school-record time of 3:31.36 in the final 4x400m heat of the night to snag 12th place and a spot in Eugene. In total, 17 Bobcat entries advanced to the NCAA West Regional, with four of those earning their spot in Eugene.
