Bobcats to compete on Friday and Saturday in San Francisco area
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State track & field program is set to split up for the first time during the outdoor season, sending a handful of distance runners to the Mike Fanelli Track Classic while the remainder of the team competes at the Stanford Invite on Friday and Saturday.
The Stanford Invite will feature the majority of the Bobcats traveling to California, with Ben Parks set to kick off competition for the Bobcats on Friday in the men's hammer throw collegiate at 10:45 a.m. MT. Tilde Bjerager, Sabine Brueck, and Millie Hubbell will compete in the 100-meter hurdles to open the running events for the Bobcats at 11:37 a.m. MT.
The Mike Fanelli Track Classic, hosted by San Francisco State, will feature a handful of distance events, starting with alternating heats of the women's and men's 5,000m beginning at 9:30 a.m. MT on Friday. Stella Diaz, Samantha Geraets, Eva Koos, Claire Rutherford, and Hailey Watkins will all compete in the women's event, while Ryan Harrington, Quinn Newman, and AJ Ringert will run on the men's side.
Live results from the Stanford Invite will be available here, and results from the Mike Fanelli Track Classic can be found here. The meets will not be live streamed.
"The majority of our team will be competing at the Stanford Invite with some distance athletes competing at the Mike Fanelli Invite, hosted by San Francisco State" Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "It is a big weekend for us as, across the board, we will be up against high-level competition. The distance athletes always look forward to competing at sea level, so this weekend is a bit of a treat for them. The jumps, throws, and sprints are looking forward to competing in nice weather and facing off with elite competition."
The Competition: Both meets will feature teams across multiple divisions of college athletics, as well as club athletes and teams.
Bobcat Competitors: Montana State will be represented by 31 women and 28 men between the Stanford Invite and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
The women's competitors include Tilde Bjerager, Emma Brensdal, Sydney Brewster, Sabine Brueck, Stella Diaz, Hailey Ells, Giulia Gandolfi, Peyton Garrison, Samantha Geraets, Libby Hansen, Caroline Hawkes, Maggie Hillis, Millie Hubbell, Annie Kaul, Eva Koos, Olivia Lewis, Jenavieve Lynch, Sydney Mattfeldt, Sophia Miller, Kalei Moravitz, Niamh Motley, Hannah Perrin, Brooke Reuter, Tatum Richards, Iris Rogel, Claire Rutherford, Madi Siana, Kaitlyn Skinner, Jadyn VanDyken, Hailey Watkins, and Jaeden Wolff.
The Bobcat men competing in California include Ethan Anderson, Eli Boppart, Trystin Chapel, Nash Coley, Billy Cunningham, Jackson Fagerlin, Matt Furdyk, Will Giesen, Jett Grundy, Ryan Harrington, Bob Hartley, Easton Hatleberg, Talon Holmquist, Jordan Lasher, Niko Mann, Chase McGee, Rob McManus, Quinn Newman, Mario Oblad, Ben Parks, AJ Ringert, Ben Saelens, Malikye Simpson, Xavier Simpson, Blaise Snow, Stryder Todd-Fields, Drake Wilkes, and Preston Wysocki.
Last Time Out: The Bobcats opened their outdoor season at the Cat-Griz Dual/Al Manuel Invitational on March 27-28, where they posted strong performances to open the campaign. Tilde Bjerager shattered the 400m hurdles school record with a converted time of 57.79 in her outdoor debut as a Bobcat to earn one of 17 event wins and 13 improvements to the program's all-time top-10 list. Bjerager was named Big Sky Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Sydney Brewster took home Women's Field Athlete of the Week following her winning mark of 17.12 meters/56 feet, 2 inches in the shot put.
Up Next: The Cats will return to California in two weeks for a trio of meets, including the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University (April 16-18) and the Pacific Coast Invitational (April 16) and Beach Invitational (April 17-18) at Long Beach State University. The Bobcats will head to Pocatello, Idaho, for the Bengal Invitational on May 1-2 before concluding the regular season at home, hosting the Tom Gage Classic on May 8.
The Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Portland, Ore., will open the postseason on May 13-16, with the NCAA West First Round in Fayetteville, Ark., (May 27-30) and the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., (June 10-13) set to wrap up the 2025-26 campaign.
