MSU looks to get back in win column
(Jan. 23, 2026) – Montana State plays its fourth game in eight days Saturday afternoon, when the Bobcats visit Weber State. Tipoff is 2 pm in Ogden's Dee Event Center.
The Cats also look to rebounds from the team's first Big Sky loss of 2026, a 79-60 setback at Idaho State on Thursday. That game marked MSU's largest margin of defeat in a league game in almost two seasons.
But veteran Bobcats coach Tricia Binford isn't concerned with any of that. She's worried about something simpler.
"We need to get back to perfecting the simple," she said of her Bobcat team's approach to playing fundamental basketball. "We need to share the basketball and defend better in the halfcourt."
Montana State enters Saturday's game against Weber State with a 13-5 overall mark, 6-1 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats stand 6-14 overall, 0-7 in the league. The Wildcats thrive on defense, holding opponents to a 39.3 percent shooting, including 30.2 percent from the three-point arc, both fifth in the Big Sky.
The Cats shoot 42.0 percent from the field, but hit at only a 32.3 percent clip on Thursday in Reed Gym in a game that Idaho State led for more than 32 minutes. The Bobcats look to avoid the program's first two-game losing streak in two seasons.
Saturday's game streams on ESPN+, and is broadcast around Montana on the Bobcat Radio Network with Daniel Salle on the call.
