
Seidl Leads Montana State to Third-Place Finish at Kalispel Invitational

Norah Seidl ties for eighth individually as Cats shoot 293 as a team on Tuesday
SPOKANE, Wash. --- Norah Seidl carded a 69 in the final round of the Kalispel Invitational to lead the Montana State women's golf team to a third-place finish at Kalispel Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.
Seidl earned her second top-10 finish in as many weeks, posting a 54-hole score of 2-over 218 to tie for eighth place at the Eastern Washington-hosted tournament. The junior transfer posted rounds of 75-74-69, carding a round in the 60s for the second time this season while sharing the second-lowest score in the field on par-3 holes (-2).
The Bobcats posted their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 5-over 293 to bring their final team score to 886 (295-298-293). Montana State tied for second among its competitors in par-3 and par-5 scoring, finishing 3-over and 4-over in the respective categories. The Cats also carded 35 birdies, the third-most by any team at Kalispel Golf and Country Club this week.
"Norah had an amazing final bogey-free round again," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We battled to the end. We left a few strokes out there but will keep learning. Once again, these ladies can compete, and we hope to keep raising the bar. We have two good tournaments coming up, and we need to be ready and on our games. I'm proud of this group to grit it out and keep fighting."
Seidl's eighth-place result (218) led a group of three Bobcats who finished in the top 20 at the Kailspel Invitational. Ashleigh Wilson carded a 4-over 220 to place 11th while competing as an individual, and Sailor Graham marked her debut in the team lineup by tying for 16th at 6-over 222. Lauren Greeny posted a 225 to tie for 25th, Eva Heinz finished tied for 35th with a 227, and Maddie Montoya tied for 41st with a 229 to round out the Bobcats' team lineup. Lauren Nau carded a 234 to tie for 53rd while competing individually in Spokane.
Seidl posted the field's second-lowest round of the day with a 3-under 69, shooting bogey-free in the third round while sinking birdies on holes 1, 5, and 9. She climbed 15 places on the tournament's final day to solidify her second top-10 finish of the season. Montoya posted a 73 to count toward the Bobcats' score, highlighted by 16 bogey-free holes and a birdie on hole 18. Graham, who finished the tournament tied for third in par-5 scoring (-2), fourth in birdies (10) and fifth in par-3 scoring (-1), counted a 75 on Tuesday while Greeny added a 76 for the Bobcats. Individually, Wilson shot par-or-better on 16 holes en route to a 73 in round three.
Santa Clara earned the team victory at 4-over 868 while Gonzaga placed second at 14-over 878. Montana State (886) narrowly edged out four other teams for third place as Seattle (887), Idaho (888), Tarleton State (889), and Cal State Bakersfield (890) finished fourth through seventh, respectively.
Gonzaga's Grace Lee finished 6-under 210 to earn medalist honors ahead of Santa Clara's Kelsey Kim (212) and Idaho's Zoe Newell (214).

The Bobcats will conclude their stretch of four-straight tournaments to open the season when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa, for the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sept. 29-30. That contest will mark the fourth of five tournaments on Montana State's fall schedule before it resumes competition in the spring.
