Bobcats to wrap up fall competition at Route 66 Invitational on Oct. 19-20
OMAHA, Neb. --- Montana State junior golfers Elvira Flodström and Nadia Sanz Ouezzani concluded competition at the Big O Classic on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in ties for fifth and seventh overall among a 52-golfer field.
Flodström concluded the 54-hole tournament at 15-over 231, while Sanz Ouezzani posted a final score of 17-over 233 in the duo's third tournament of the season. Both Bobcats competed individually at the tournament, hosted by Creighton and Omaha, with Flodström and Sanz Ouezzani each earning their first top-10 finish as Bobcats.
"I'm proud of Ellie and Nadia for the way they competed and represented Montana State this week," Montana State assistant coach Morgan Ryan said. "The final round wasn't what we were hoping for, but putting yourself in contention comes with challenges, and learning to navigate those moments is a big part of growing as a player. There are a lot of positives for both of them to take with them into the offseason as they continue to grow and prepare for the spring. I know these experiences will only make them better the next time they find themselves in that position."
Flodström carded an 83 in the tournament's final round on Tuesday to finish 15-over 231. The junior carded seven-straight pars on holes 1 through 7 to highlight her third round and finished week with round scores of 74, 74, and 83 to tie for fifth place.
Sanz Ouezzani posted a third-round score of 80 behind a birdie on hole 1 and four-straight pars on holes 14 through 17. She finished the tournament with a score of 17-over 233 behind rounds of 78, 75, and 80, tying for seventh overall.
Omaha's Eden Larson took home the individual title at 3-over 219, with North Dakota's Payton Stocker taking runner-up honors at 12-over 228. Omaha's Ellynne Honnens (229) took third place over Texas Southern's Carmen Pate (230) by one stroke, and Flodström and Omaha's Kiara Montebon tied for fifth place with a score of 231.
