Four Montana State women's tennis standouts garnered all-conference accolades for their efforts this season, the Big Sky Conference office announced on Wednesday. The all-conference honors are voted on by the league's head coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes.
Meg McCarty, a sophomore from Bozeman, was named All-Big Sky Singles First Team after recording a 12-4 overall record and a 6-2 league ledger playing at No. 2 singles. Senior Marta Garcia-Reboredo was named to the All-Big Sky Singles Second Team, posting an 11-7 overall mark and a 4-4 Big Sky record. The native of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, who was the 2022 league freshman of the year, was a first team pick in singles and doubles in 2024.
"Meg and Marta have been rocks at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots all season," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "They do a great job trusting their game and competing."
McCarty, who combines with graduate transfer Jojo Bach, were unanimous All-Big Sky Doubles First Team selections for their play at the top spot this spring. The tandem recorded a 14-2 overall mark and a 6-0 conference record. The duo ranked as high as #42 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings this season.
Garcia-Reboredo and sophomore Hudson Hawkins garnered All-Big Sky Doubles Honorable Mention kudos after posting a 9-8 overall mark and 4-2 Big Sky ledger.
"Heading into this season we really put a lot of focus on our doubles play," Woodburn said. "To have two doubles teams earn all-conference honors is a testament to the work all of our kids have put into the program."
The Bobcats face Idaho State on Thursday morning in the opening round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament at the Phoenix Tennis Center in Arizona, beginning at 9 a.m.
