A win over the Grizzlies would secure a tournament berth for the Bobcats, as UM, Idaho State and Weber State would be unable to catch MSU in the win column.
The Montana State women's tennis team looks to take a step in securing a bid to the six-team Big Sky Conference Tournament when it faces rival Montana in the annual Cat-Griz brawl, Saturday, at the Peak Racquet Club beginning at 2 p.m. in Missoula.
MSU sits fourth in the Big Sky standings with just Montana and Eastern Washington remaining on its schedule. The Bobcats are 9-9 overall, 3-3 in Big Sky action. UM is eighth in the standings- 3-13 overall, 1-5 in league play.

"We are ready and excited for the Cat-Griz battle," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "Our team is prepared and ready to go. We will leave it all on the court in Missoula. I know the team is hungry and eager for this match."
Senior Marta Garcia-Reboredo and sophomore Meg McCarty pace the Bobcats in singles action with ten wins apiece. McCarty is 4-2 in Big Sky play at No. 2 singles, while Garcia-Reboredo is 3-3 at the top spot.
McCarty, a Bozeman native, also combines with Jojo Bach at No. 1 doubles where the tandem is 12-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Sky action. The duo has been ranked as high as 42nd in the ITA rankings this spring.
Montana has won four of the last five matches against the Bobcats, including a 5-2 decision in Bozeman last season. MSU's last win in Missoula came in 2020.
