Hornets sweep Bobcats in Big Sky tilt
Montana State put up a fight, but struggled in key moments during a 7-0 loss at Big Sky co-leader Sacramento State on Friday.
After capturing the doubles point with wins at the second and third ladder positions, the Hornets rode the wave of momentum into singles play. Sacramento State won by retirement at No. 3, then took wins at No. 1 and No. 4 to clinch the team victory. The Hornets earned straight-set wins at each singles position.
"It was a tough one today at Sacramento," said MSU coach Suzie Woodburn. "Sac State is a great team and played at a very high level. We did some good things out there, but we need to keep executing on the big points. Our team fought and battled, but it wasn't enough. We hope we get an opportunity to play them again."
Montana State is now 7-8 on the season, 1-2 in Big Sky Conference play. The Cats visit Weber State on March 30 before closing the regular season with three home matches in their last four outings.
