Oregon State (7-5) took its largest lead of the second half at 50-46 with 1:58 remaining in the contest. Montana State's (6-4) Taylee Chirrick cut the margin to one point on a three-pointer from the right wing with 19 seconds left. Following a Bobcat timeout, MSU advanced the ball to the front court and freshman guard Jamison Philip found Issy Bunyan alone on the right baseline. Bunyan drilled what appeared to be a triple to even the score but was called for a foot on the three-point line giving the Beavers a 52-51 advantage with five seconds left. OSU closed out the contest hitting the front end of two free throws.
Philip, a product of Ellensburg, Wash., paced the Bobcats for the second consecutive game with 14 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Junior Ella Johnson posted nine points on three-of-six from long distance.
The Bobcat defense forced OSU into 22 turnovers and converted the miscues into 15 points. MSU finished the game connecting on eight-of-36 from beyond the arc- the most three-point attempts of the season. The Beavers went to the line on 22 occasions while MSU went three-of-five from the stripe.
Oregon State held a narrow 41-40 advantage under the boards. Chirrick led MSU with eight rebounds to go along with seven points and two steals.
