In its two exhibition contests, MSU forced a combined 85 turnovers and recorded 59 steals, to set the tone for the season.
Montana State head coach Tricia Binford is as excited about her squad's opening game as she was her first in 2005. The Bobcats open its 2025-26 slate against Carroll College, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
"Feeling young," Binford grinned. "We've got a young squad, but I'm excited for them to get in uniform for a real, accountable game in front of our crowd against a very well coached team."
Montana State has two exhibition games under its belt. MSU defeated Northwest Nazarene 93-41 behind Issy Bunyan's 23-point effort on Oct. 27. Four days later, the Bobcats dispatched Bushnell 88-37 as sophomore Addison Harris poured in 18 points to guide the Cats.
In its two exhibition contests, MSU forced a combined 85 turnovers and recorded 59 steals, to set the tone for the season.
"Everything starts with defense, so defense is where our offense needs to start from," Binford said. "And then when we get into the half court, we want to make sure that we're keeping it simple and we're not going for home run plays. We need simple, predictable plays for each other."
Carroll College is 0-1 after dropping a 48-45 decision to MSU Billings on Thursday night. Willa Albrecht, a 6-foot guard who played three seasons at Montana before moving to Helena, notched 21 points, including three 3-pointers to pace the Saints. Kenzie Allen, a 5-8 junior from Grantsville, Utah, pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
On Sunday, Gonzaga limited Carroll to just 18.9% from the field in a 91-31 exhibition victory in Spokane.
"Carroll is always going to be well prepared to play," Binford said. "We need to make sure we are ready to go and to get better tomorrow than what we were the last time we played."
Following its game against the Saints, the Bobcats open its regular season road schedule at Portland on Friday night at 7 p.m. (MT).
