Bobcats open indoor season at home on Thursday, Dec. 4
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State track & field program released its 2025-26 schedule on Thursday, which will feature a home slate that includes four indoor meets inside the new Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center and one outdoor meet at the Bobcat Track & Field Complex.
The Bobcats are slated to compete in nine meets across eight weeks indoors to open the 2025-26 slate before entering in 10 meets over eight weeks during the outdoor season. The 2025-26 campaign will see the Bobcats competing in meets from California to Arkansas as they look to embark on another successful season.
"The highlight of the entire schedule will be hosting in the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "The team and coaches cannot wait to participate in the first competitions inside the beautiful new facility. As always, we will put a heavy focus on maximizing our performances at the conference championship meets, indoor and outdoor. Competing as a team across all event groups for a team championship is such a special opportunity which the student athletes embrace and put their best effort forward."
Montana State kicks off its indoor season with the Bobcat Preview on Dec. 4, marking the competitive debut of the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center in Bozeman. The Bobcats will then host the Bobcat Challenge, Montana State's second-straight home meet on Jan. 23-24 before traveling to Pocatello, Idaho, for the one-day Stacy Dragila Invite on Jan. 30.
The Bobcats will open a busy February with the Carignan Classic in Bozeman on Feb. 6 before splitting up between the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 13-14. Montana State will then have a quick turnaround to the Big Sky Tuner, which will be held in Bozeman on Feb. 19 to wrap up the indoor regular season.
Montana State will open the postseason at the Big Sky Indoor Championships, hosted by Idaho State, on Feb. 26-28. The Bobcats will then have a week off before traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas-hosted NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14.
The Bobcats open their outdoor season in Missoula, Mont., at the Cat-Griz Dual/Al Manuel Invitational on March 27-28. Montana State then travels to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invite on April 3-4. The Bobcats will wrap up April by splitting up between three meets in California over the weekend of April 16-18, with Montana State appearing in the Pacific Coast Invite in Long Beach on April 16, the Beach Invite, also in Long Beach, on April 17-18, and the Brian Clay Invite in Azusa on April 16-18.
Montana State will begin the month of May in Pocatello, competing at the Bengal Invitational on May 1-2 before wrapping up the outdoor regular season at home with the Senior Sendoff on May 8. The Bobcats will travel west to Portland, Ore., for the Big Sky Outdoor Championships on May 13-16 as they open postseason competition. The NCAA West Regional will follow in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 27-30, and those who qualify will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 10-13.
Montana State will look to build on a historic 2024-25 season that saw the Bobcats send a record number of competitors to both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championship meets. Rob McManus led a group of seven Bobcats competing across four events at the national outdoor meet, placing eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to earn First-Team All-America honors.
Indoors, four Cats made the trip to the NCAA Championships as McManus, Shelby Schweyen, and Harvey Cramb brought Second-Team All-America honors back to Bozeman.
The Bobcats also found great success at the conference level in 2025. Six individuals and two relay teams captured Big Sky titles across the indoor and outdoor seasons as the men and women finished runner-up as a team at both conference meets.
