
Bobcats Complete Day One of Competition at Sun Mountain Intercollegiate

Ashleigh Wilson leads Montana State in eighth place through 36 holes of play
MISSOULA, Mont. --- Ashleigh Wilson posted a 2-over 146 over two rounds of golf on Monday to lead a trio of Bobcats on day one of the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Montana.
Wilson carded rounds of 74 and 72 at The Ranch Club to finish the first day of play in eighth place. The freshman was joined by Sailor Graham and Lauren Nau in the top 20 on Monday, with Graham sitting in a tie for 17th with a 151 and Nau tying for 20th at 152 after two rounds of competition. All three Bobcats are competing individually in the Bobcats' penultimate tournament of the fall season.
Wilson opened the day with a 74 on her first trip around the course, sinking birdies on holes 1, 9, and 18 to finish the round in a tie for 11th. Wilson then shot an even-par 72 in the second round to improve to eighth, posting birdies on holes 5, 6, 9, and 12. She went bogey-free on seven-straight holes from hole 3 through 9, with three of her four birdies coming during that stretch. Her score was tied for the fourth-lowest of any golfer in the second round.
Graham carded rounds of 75 and 76 on Monday, tallying three birdies in each round to complete the day in a tie for 17th place. Her strongest stretch of play came in the second round, when she carded a birdie on hole 3 followed by four-straight pars on holes 4 through 7.
Nau posted a pair of 76s to round out the Bobcats' lineup, carding a birdie on hole 9 and pars on 12 holes in the first round. She then sunk three birdies in the second round to finish out the day, heading into the final round tied for 20th.
Wilson heads into the final round just three strokes off the lead while Graham and Nau sit eight and nine strokes back, respectively. Weber State's Emily Song tops the individual leaderboard at 1-under 143 while Portland State's Payten Shimizu and Idaho's Zoe Newell sit one stroke back in a tie for second (144).
Weber State leads the race for the team title with a 14-over 590 while Portland State and Idaho hold scores of 591 and 592, respectively.
Montana State will tee off in the third and final round of the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring is available at GolfGenius.com with final results available at scoreboard.clippd.com following the conclusion of the tournament.
