Sailor Graham, Lauren Nau, and Ashleigh Wilson travel to Missoula for the Montana-hosted tournament
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- Three Montana State golfers are set to compete in an additional tournament on the tail end of the fall season, traveling to Missoula, Mont., for the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at The Ranch Club and will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on each day. Monday will begin in a shotgun start and will consist of 36 holes of continuous play, while Tuesday's final round is set for a split-tee start from holes 1 and 10.
"We've added The Sun Mountain Intercollegiate to give Sailor, Ashleigh, and Lauren some additional competitive rounds this fall, providing them with more valuable experience in collegiate play," head coach Brittany Basye said. "Each of them has already played in two or more events this season, and this opportunity allows us to enter them as individuals.
It is an easy trip to Missoula on a great golf course playing against Big Sky Conference schools. It will be exciting to see them build on their fall performances. Sailor and Ashleigh have both been in our starting lineup this fall, and giving them another tournament to compete in will be important as we continue to shape our lineup and prepare for the spring season."
The Sun Mountain Intercollegiate marks the first time this season that the Bobcats will not compete for a team score, with three Cats set to tee off as individuals. Ashleigh Wilson is competing in her fifth tournament in as many weeks, while Sailor Graham and Lauren Nau are set to take the course for the third time this fall. The Bobcat trio will join six Big Sky Conference teams in Missoula, with Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Portland State, and Weber State vying for the team title at The Ranch Club.
Montana State is coming off a second-place finish at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sept. 29-30, highlighted by a medalist performance by Lauren Greeny. The Bobcats posted a score of 894 (293-300-301) to record their third-consecutive top-three team result while Greeny earned her fourth career win with a 5-under 211 performance. Greeny set records for Finkbine Golf Course's women's tournament low round and the Diane Thomason Invitational's all-time low-54 hole score en route to earning her fourth career Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week honor. Maddie Montoya (T-8th) also posted a top-10 result with a 221 to pace Montana State, which has finished in the top five of each tournament in which it has competed so far this season. The Bobcats will return to team competition a week from Monday to wrap up the fall season at the Dale McNamara Invitational on Oct. 13-14.
The Bobcat trio will tee off in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Live scoring will be available atGolfGenius.com with final results available at scoreboard.clippd.com following each day of competition.
