
Bobcats Continue Big Sky Road Play

Montana State continues its current stretch of Big Sky road matches with stops in Oregon and California.

The Bobcats open play at Portland State, Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. (MT) in Viking Pavilion. MSU concludes action at Sacramento State, Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. (MT) in The Nest. Montana State's next home match is Oct. 23 against Weber State in Shroyer Gym.
QUICK SETS: With its win at Montana last Saturday night, the Bobcats matched its win total from last season (9-19). The big reason for this year's success comes with how the Bobcats have been managing matches that go the distance. Last fall, MSU was 2-7 in five set matches. This season, the Bobcats are 5-1 in five set matches. MSU has won five straight that have gone the full five sets.
LINDSETH AND SIEBLER EARN BIG SKY CONFERENCE HONORS: Fresh off its fifth consecutive victory over its in-state rival, the Montana State volleyball program reaped the rewards of its effort as outside hitter Madilyn Siebler and libero Lauren Lindseth were named Big Sky Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Siebler recorded a career-high 21 kills as the Bobcats dispatched Montana 25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-10 on Saturday. For the match, she averaged 4.2 kills per set. In addition, she recorded a season-high 15 digs and added a block assist. Lindseth registered a team-high 27 digs, while dishing out seven assists and adding an ace. Lindseth, who captured the league's defensive honor for the third time and for the second straight week, averaged 5.40 digs per set. She opened the contest with eight saves in the opening set. Lindseth also got the job done in serve-receive, being targeted by the Grizzlies thirty-five times without committing an error.
MOVIN' ON UP: Lauren Lindseth moved into second on MSU's all-time career digs chart against Northern Arizona on Oct. 2 in Shroyer Gym. Lindseth's career total stands at 1,775 digs. The native of Great Falls also broke into the top 10 on MSU's all-time service ace chart with 120.

PACKING THE PLACE: The Bobcats currently rank 87th in the nation in attendance averaging 925 fans per contest. MSU had a season-high 1,157 fans on Sept. 18 against Neveda. Last season, the Cats averaged 1,185 fans over ten home matches. Against Montana on Nov. 22 , the Bobcats saw a season-high 3,567 fans pack Worthington Arena. MSU ranked among the top 65 in the nation in attendance last fall ahead of programs such as UCLA, Alabama, and Baylor. Two years ago, MSU finished 65th in averaging 1,115 fans per game. On Sept. 30, 2022, Montana State set a Big Sky Conference and state of Montana record when 6,457 fans jammed Worthington Arena.

- Senior libero Lauren Lindseth averaged 5.40 digs per set as the Bobcats defeated Montana last Saturday night in Dahlberg Arena. Lindseth recorded a team-high 27 digs against the Grizzlies. The CMR graduate also chipped in seven assists and an ace. On the season, Lindseth is averaging 4.73 digs per set, which is second in the Big Sky Conference and ranks 25th in the nation. Lindseth's current total of 298 digs is the best in the Big Sky and ranks 43rd in the country.
- Sophomore outside hitter Karli Heidemann recorded 14 kills against Montana, last Saturday. Heidemann also registered 13 digs, two blocks and an ace in the victory. Against Northern Arizona on Oct. 2, she matched a career-high with 21 kills and added a career-high 17 digs. Heidemann is currently averaging 3.16 kps, which ranks 8th in the Big Sky.
- Senior middle blocker Camryn Greenwald is averaging 1.85 kills per set, while hitting a team-best .360 from the field. Greenwald's .360 attack mark is fourth best in the Big Sky and ranks 83rd in the nation. The Woodbury, Minn., product recorded a career-high 17 kills in MSU's win over Maryland Eastern Shore at the Gonzaga Invite, Sept. 4. Greenwald has had six matches this season hitting .400 or better.
- Junior Joelie Spelts has been MSU's top blocker this season. The Gillette, Wyo., product averages .98 blocks per set, which includes a season-best seven blocks as the Bobcats dispatched Bakersfield on Sept. 5. Her current 1.00 bps ranks ninth in the Big Sky.
- Montana State freshmen Teagan Jaynes and Elli Tufto returned to the Bobcat starting rotation after missing several matches due to injuries in mid-September. The duo's return has made an immediate impact as the Bobcats have won five of its last six matches with the twosome back in the lineup. Jaynes, a setter from Northfield, Minn., is averaging 9.64 assists per set in Big Sky action. She is also averaging .86 kps while hitting .315. In addition, Jaynes has tallied 18 aces and is averaging 1.73 digs per set. Tufto, an outside hitter from Prior Lake, Minn., is second on the squad averaging 2.38 kills per set, while hitting .183.
