Record-breaking round of 66 powered junior to first career win at Eagle Invitational in Idaho
FARMINGTON, Utah – Following a record-breaking performance in her first collegiate tournament win, Lauren Greeny was named Big Sky Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Greeny, a junior from Pullman, Washington, shot 66 and 72 in her two rounds at the Eagle Invitational this past weekend to secure the individual title at Circling Raven Golf Club in Worley, Idaho.
Her round of 6-under par 66 on Monday was the best 18-hole round in the history of Montana State golf, eclipsing the previous mark of 67 which had been accomplished nine total times--including four by Greeny herself.
After Sunday's first round, Greeny's mark of 72 had her tied for ninth. However, a flurry of birdies and eagles pushed the junior to the top of the heap on Monday and helped Montana State finish fourth overall as a team in the 13-squad field.
The Bobcats finished above all six other Big Sky teams competing at Circling Raven, including Montana, Idaho, Idaho State, Eastern Washington, Weber State, and Portland State.
Greeny shares the conference's weekly honor with Sacramento State's Caitlin Maurice.
