For the first time this season the Montana State alpine and Nordic ski teams will be at the same place at the same time. Both Bobcat squads compete at the University of Colorado Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational, Feb. 2-3 in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
A lone RMISA giant slalom qualifier will run on Thursday afternoon.
MSU is coming off back-to-back invitationals that saw it finish third at Westminster and fourth at Utah.
The Bobcat women's alpine squad led MSU at Westminster placing first overall in slalom and giant slalom, while the Nordic women were second. Montana State's combined alpine and Nordic women's teams were the top point scorers among all RMISA squads, racking up 306 points. The men's alpine contingent won the giant slalom on the final day posting 161 points.
MSU's performance at Westminster was highlighted by a pair of individual titles: Tilde Baangman, 10K classic, and Gianluca Boehm, giant slalom.
For her efforts at the Westminster Invite, Baangman was named RMISA Skier of the Meet in Nordic. Baangman posted podium finishes in both races at the Westminster Invite, which was being held in the conjunction with the U.S. Cross Country National Championships at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. The sophomore won the women's 10K classical on Tuesday, Jan. 2 before placing second in freestyle sprints on Thursday. It marked the Oestersund, Sweden, native's first RMISA Skier of the Meet award of her career.
At Utah, the alpine men placed first thanks in part to its consistent performance in slalom and giant slalom highlighted by two podium appearances by Boehm.
Bobcat fans will have a chance to watch the alpine action and follow live scoring in both disciplines this weekend.
