Bobcat Women’s Tennis Boasts Two Nationally Ranked Doubles Teams

For the first time in school history the Montana State women’s tennis team has two nationally ranked doubles tandems .
For the first time in school history the Montana State women's tennis team has two nationally ranked doubles tandems as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this week.
Sophomore Meg McCarty is the common denominator in both pairings. The Bozeman product combined with Bobcat newcomer Jojo Bach to post a 4-0 mark this fall, winning the doubles title at the Bedford Cup hosted by Air Force in mid-September. The duos' march to the doubles title was highlighted by an 8-6 decision over Denver's Andrea Baltran and Louise Wikander. McCarty and Bach rank No. 75 in the nation- the highest ranked doubles team in the Big Sky Conference.
McCarty teamed with Mia Ljubas at the Gonzaga Invite where the tandem won the back draw with a 4-1 overall mark. The pairing captured the back draw title with a 7-5 win over GU's Norhan Hesham and Brooke Bittner. McCarty and Ljubas rank No. 117.
"We're coming off one of the best fall seasons in history," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "We're excited to have the highest ranked doubles team in the Big Sky Conference. It is pretty cool that a Bozeman kid is part of both nationally ranked teams, as well.
"Both doubles teams did an outstanding job competing no matter who they were facing," she added. "We had great wins at some tough tournaments. We look to continue our momentum as we open the season in January."
Montana State plays at Utah, Jan. 17. The Bobcats first home contest is slated for Jan. 31 against Utah State.
