BOBCAT GAME DAY NOTEBOOK #9: Bobcats Take to Eastern Washington's Red Turf Today for the Seventh Time

MSU looks to extend positive success on Saturday
CHENEY, Washington – Long before Eastern Washington installed its signature red turf at Woodward Stadium, the Eagles had Montana State seeing red.
Eastern holds an all-time advantage of 32-13 against MSU, and that's after a rare three-game winning streak in the series, tied for the Bobcats' longest in series history. Still, the story of the series in recent times skews a little more in Montana State's favor. The Bobcats became the first visiting team to win on the red turf at Roos Field, and MSU's 3-3 record there is tied with Portland State as the best by an opponent.
Still, Eastern's all-time advantage is stark. MSU's .289 winning percentage against the Eagles is its lowest against any team it has met a minimum of 20 times. Wyoming is next (.300, 6-13).

The Bobcats expect to line up largely as listed on the depth chart issued Monday. Neil Daily starts at Will linebacker, and Scottre Humphrey is expected to start at running back but Juluis Davis should see action.

Montana State is a team built from the line-of-scrimmage out, but today's matchup is as stark as any the Cats face. The Cats rush for 312.9 yards a game, second in the FCS, while Eastern Washington allows 236.7 rushing yards a game, 116th in the FCS.

Bobcat running back Scottre Humphrey has rushed for 952 yards, 48 from posting the 25th 1,000-yard season in MSU history.

Bobcat opponents have scored 10 points in the first quarter this season, all by New Mexico. The Cats have outscored their opponents 200-38 before halftime.
* * * * *
Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott has thrown 149 passes this season with a 17-to-1 TD-to-interception ratio. Eastern Washington quarterback Kekoa Visperas has thrown 260 passes with a 13-to-1 TD-to-Int ratio.
