QUICK SETS: Both Montana State and Montana dropped two decisions on the road last week. The Grizzlies were swept 3-0 in its two matches against Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado, while the Bobcats went 3-0 at UNC and 3-1 at NAU. Both MSU and UM enter Friday night's match 6-13 overall. Montana State is 4-4 in Big Sky play, while the Griz are 1-7.
CAT-GRIZ: Montana State won two of three matches against its archrival last season giving the Bobcats a 63-61 advantage in the all-time series dating back to the 1975 season. The Bobcats dropped a 3-0 decision in Missoula on Sept. 29, before returning the favor 3-1 in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Oct. 27. MSU captured the season series defeating the Grizzlies 3-0 on Nov. 22 in the opening round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Greeley, Colo. Montana State's last win (3-0) in Missoula came on Sept. 21, 2021.
MAIN LINE TROPHY: The Main Line Trophy is up for grabs on Friday as well as bragging rights. The Main Line Trophy is a symbol of longevity, resilience, and strength. It is a whimsical throwback to the early mining boom and the railroad that brought only the hardiest citizenry to the Treasure State. SCOUTING REPORT: Montana is 6-13 overall and 1-7 in Big Sky Conference action. The Grizzlies lone conference win was a 3-0 decision over Idaho on Oct. 10. Last weekend, UM dropped a pair of league matches, losing at Northern Arizona - 25-20, 25-22, 25-23 - and Northern Colorado - 25-18, 25-15, 25-18. Paige Clark paced UM at Northern Colorado with nine digs, while Maddie Kremer recorded a team-best 11 kills at NAU. On the season, Clark, a 6-1 senior outside hitter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, averages 3.57 kills per set, while adds 2.76 kps. Defensively, Montana is led by Alexis Batezel, who averages a team-high 4.06 digs per contest.
AMONG THE NATION'S ELITE: As a team Montana State ranks 15th in the nation with 198.5 total blocks and 26th in blocks per set at 2.65. Last weekend, the Cats were outblocked by its opponents 2.29 to 2.14 per set. The nation's top blocking program to date is Idaho State at 3.12 bps. Individually, Jordan Radick leads MSU averaging 1.19 bps, while Jourdain Kamps averages 1.16 per contest. Joelie Spelts .94, Camryn Greenwald .85, and Erika Gustafson .80 also rank among the top blockers in the Big Sky. Radick and Kamps rank 87th and 99th in the nation in blocks per set, respectively.
ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE: According to the NCAA rankings, Montana State's 2024 schedule is the 52nd toughest slate in the nation and tops in the Big Sky Conference. PACKING THE PLACE: Montana State is averaging 1,011 fans this season (five matches). On Oct. 12 against Idaho, the Bobcats saw a season-high 1,347 fans pack Shroyer Gym. MSU is currently ranked 72nd in the nation for attendance, ahead of programs such as Clemson, Florida State, and Alabama. Last fall, MSU finished 65th in the nation averaging 1,115 fans per game. On Sept. 30, 2022, Montana State set a Big Sky and State of Montana record when 6,457 fans jammed Worthington Arena.

In addition, she is chipping in 1.16 blocks and .68 digs per contest. Kamps had her best match of the year at Weber State on Oct. 5 recording a career-high 26 kills, while hitting .382 and adding a career-best 10 blocks. For her efforts, she was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for the second team in her career. Kamps also became the 18th member of MSU's 1,000-kill club. GOTTA DIG IT: Lauren Lindseth has totaled 325 digs in 75 sets. Last weekend, the Great Falls native averaged 5.00 dps and had her best outing at Northern Arizona posting 30 digs, averaging 7.50 per set. Lindseth became the 11th member of MSU's 1,000-Dig Club against Denver on Sept. 5. Her current total of 1,294 career digs is fifth all-time. She has 16 matches in double-digit digs this season. Last fall, Lindseth ranked seventh in Big Sky play averaging 3.77 per game. On Aug. 31, 2023, she recorded a career-high 34 digs against St. Thomas (MN). For the season, Lindseth recorded 28 matches in double-digit digs. Lindseth's 494 digs last fall were the fifth best single season mark in MSU history, while her freshman total of 475 digs ranks sixth. As a sophomore, she was in double-digit digs in 22 matches, including a streak of 13 consecutive matches. Lindseth has earned All-Big Sky Tournament honors the last two seasons, and she is a four-time Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year honoree.
LINDSETH LEGACY: Lauren Lindseth is part of Bobcat history as one-half of the first mother/daughter duo to play at MSU. Lindseth's mother - Kelly Modrow (MOD-row) - played at MSU from 1992-1996. The native of Minnetonka, Minn., (Hopkins HS) played in 110 matches and 359 sets. In all, Modrow's recorded 889 kills, 733 digs, 128 blocks and 87 aces wearing the No. 2 jersey, as well.

The 5-11 senior from San Leandro, Calif., dished out 4.29 assists per set last weekend at Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. Her current 6.42 assists average ranks sixth in the Big Sky. Stevenson, who comes to MSU via Feather River Junior College, dished out 1,049 assists last fall, averaging 8.53 per set. That mark ranked fifth in Big Sky action.

The Woodbury, Minn., product averaged 1.43 kills per set at Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. Greenwald had her best match against NAU with nine kills. At Weber State on Oct. 5, Greenwald had a career-best 16 kills. She had a career-high nine blocks against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 1. Last fall, she averaged 1.62 kills and .96 blocks, while hitting a team-high .268. Greenwald recorded five matches in double-figure kills.

Last weekend she averaged 2.86 kills and 3.29 saves per set. Siebler had one double-double last week giving her nine on the season- tops on the team.
